Friday Gift for the Bees

                                                  Dianthus Cranmere Pool

I bought a gift for the bees in my garden today , from Judy at the Country Market in the Guild Hall in Helston .  She has a lovely selection of pretty cottage garden plants , fuchsias , pelargoniums , unusual indoor plants , cacti and succulents some of which are quite rare .

Sweetly , clove scented , I just could not resist this pretty Gillyflower .

Others call them  Carnations or simply  Pinks .  Now where shall I plant it ?

  1. So pretty. I have a similar one, maybe called Gran's favourite. I've lost the label.

  3. I was brought up to call them pinks (because of the pinked petal edges) but whatever their names they do smell lovely, don't they?

Thanks for alerting me to a problem with a link on my blog - fixed now!

  5. We planted many Gillyflowers in the Elizabethan Garden at Kenilworth...they were very prized even that far back. Their scent is really lovely. The Elizabethans unlike us, liked to plant their plants with lots of room around them, in order to admire them all the more. I am sure you will find a lovely spot, maybe near your favourite seat.
