Flora Day - Buttercups and Poppies !

Flora Day on the 8th of May
Such a lovely day , and the rain held off for most of  it . I think it did begin to rain at  lunch time but then stopped in time for the Mid-day  Dance .
Many photos were taken for the family album , I just put a few together here , for you to see .
Wonderful to see the effort that people  made decorating their front doors with greenery and flowers .
The Hal an Tow was awesome and loud enough to scare away any wicked spirits and bring us all through the darkness of Winter and out into the light of Summer .
All of the children of all four schools of Helston take part in this , all dressed immaculately in white , girls wearing the school colours in their hair and the boys school ties ...and a buttonhole of Lily of the Valley, Helston's flower !
There were other dances - The Morning Dance , The Hal -an -tow ,The Children's Dance, The Midday Dance and The Evening Dance ,but we'd come to see our 8 year old grandson dance with the prettiest little girl for his partner , oh ! Grandma is so proud and got all emotional at the sight !
Buttercups and Poppies encircle the little girl's hair and the boys wearing their red school ties ..we enjoyed watching the children of Parc Eglos School dancing the Flora Dance through the streets of Helston accompanied by their very elegantly dressed teachers , following the Helston Town Band .
Three cheers for Helston Town  Band ! They are just brilliant and must be exhausted after playing for all the dances around and around the town they go !
Well done and many thanks to all the people who organised this lovely day !
Flora Day is the best day of the year !
