Veltheimia bracteata update - Flowering

I had been waiting for a couple of months for this to bloom . I decided to bring it down from the greenhouse and put it on my kitchen windowsill .
A little bit more warmth  and I can have the pleasure of watching it indoors .

I grew some seeds that I had acquired from a specialist of South African bulbs . That was about five years ago .
In South Africa they grow very easily . A bit more of a challenge here in Cornwall U.K.
When the seeds  first germinated , they just looked  like blades of grass  and it dawned on me then , that I would have a very long wait .
They all withered away over winter and only one survived . Sometime around year three , I lost the plant label . Year four , it came up and I looked at it's beautiful wavy leaves and wondered what it could be ? Then I remembered ! Veltheimia..but which Veltheimia ? Veltheimia bracteata or Veltheimia capensis ?
This would be determined by the colour of the flowers .
The flowers are still not all the way out yet , so the colour could still change , but I,m fairly  sure this is Veltheimia brateata which is pink .
Veltheimia capensis is more of yellow maybe with a touch of dusty pink .
 Maybe you know ?

                                       Beautiful wavy edged leaves .
I believe that it is possible to take leaf cuttings and produce bulbils .
I will be having an experiment with this later on , before the leaves die back again . Nothing to lose and not so long to wait !

I am just so delighted with this lovely plant . Now I want more of them !
A clump of these Forest  Lilies , as they are more commonly known as , would look beautiful .
It is a lovely sunny day here in Mullion .  There is a battle going on outside between a pair of Ravens and three Buzzards . Looks like the Buzzards  want to nest in our big old Pine tree , the Ravens appear to be winning so far . This is where this pair of Ravens always build their nest , so they are fiercely defending it !

The Green Woodpecker is back and here he is creeping around the trunk of our Red Cordyline .  Can you see him ?

Here he is hunting for ants and grubs on the bank opposite my kitchen window.    I sat watching for ages as he walked around and put out his long tongue , to lap up the ants  . A real treat to see !
Hope you are having a lovely day !  We have got to keep ourselves cheerful !
