Here I am ...hiding behind a bunch of holly branches that I have just pruned carefully out of my beautiful Holly tree . I always like to make my own simple Holly Wreath.
I should be able to make two or three from this bundle...one for a good friend , one for my sweet daughter and one for me .
No sooner have I laid the holly on my kitchen table ...than my little helpers arrive !
The deal is this .....they help me to make the Holly Wreath with a little bit of Cornish Piskie fairy magic ..........
.........and I will make their dancing shoes !
The long stringy branches are fairly flexible to twine around themselves into a circle . I tie them around firmly with garden twine at several points ..if the branches are not so flexible I would use some wire...and tie a lovely red ribbon on ....at the top ...or at the bottom . You can add other things onto it too ...but I like to keep it simple to hang on my front door .
I like simple...I have holly...you have inspired me! No pixies though, but maybe I have some 'invisible ones'.

DeleteThats what i miss about my old garden , Holly and Ivy in the garden , I used to decorate the mantle with a big swag using both and up the stair rail but i wouldn't buy it now as its very expensive , I need to plant some in this garden next year , Merry Christmas , Eileen xxx
ReplyDeleteOh yes , you must get a little Holly tree into your garden..find some berries and plant them , they soon grow : )

DeleteI also miss the two huge holly trees I had growing in my old garden. I've planted a few in the new garden, but it'll be a while before they're big enough to cut back for trimmings.
ReplyDeleteSo cute when they are small , majestic when full grown . The birds will love the berries . The wood is said to be good for making magic wands ! : )

ReplyDeleteThankyou , yes and if you just use garden twine they are biodegradable .. I try not to use wire either which might accidentally end up in the compost heap and harm wildlife .
