It's Turning Cold !

O.k. it's time to start wearing my fingerless gloves !  Chilly morning !

I planted the little foundling Marigold into my window hanging basket .

And I splurged out and spent £6.45 on 10 Botanical Dwarf Tulip Bulbs  from Oliwiers Online Store on Ebay uk .🀩These are dainty little species Tulips . A bit special .....like me πŸ€— ! They should give a bit of sparkle to the window basket .
                              ✨πŸ’«✨✨✨⭐
So then I went indoors for a quick cup of tea before going to church ....dashed upstairs to wash my hands , tripped , twisted my ankle and fell on my face  .πŸ˜‘ Ricardo helped me get up . I'm okay . . . a bit shaken up . A couple of bruised toes . Limped into church .  😏

So I think I'll be resting up this afternoon....with my needlework basket .
My black braid has arrived so I can do a bit more of my Angel embroidery .

Winter Kitchen Windowsill Hanging Basket - continued πŸͺ»πŸͺ»πŸͺ»

I found some blue Muscari bulbs for a good price at B&Q - £2.50 for 20 bulbs !

Of course I counted them ! 1- 2 - 3 --- 20 and one extra tiddler !  Very happy me !

Poked 10 holes along the front of the hanging basket ...about 1 1/2 inches deep .

Nestled them in gently , pointy end uppermost , roots downwards .

I decided to put two in each hole .

There is still some space in the middle and towards the back for something else . I'm still thinking about that , some orange tulips would be nice, but all the other packets of bulbs were around £7.99 !! 😱
So the Wallflowers are Scarlet , the Muscari are blue , the Pansies are a mix of colours , the Silver leaved plant Senecio cineraria /Dusty Miller gives a bit of a white background to make the other colours stand out .
I am thinking about sowing some Calendula/ Marigold seeds ...that would be a cheaper way of throwing in a little bit of orange .Or ..... πŸ€”.....I might even have some Marigold seedlings popping up already elsewhere in the garden .

I had a look around and came across some variegated Ivy . This would look nice trailing over the front of the hanging basket !
I pulled a couple of pieces and they had  some roots coming along the stems already !

                                               Perfect !

I lay them into the compost and if I pinch off the tips , they should then bush out and look nice by the coming Spring .

I will still keep looking for some more reasonably priced dwarf tulip bulbs .
I have miniature Daffodils elsewhere in the garden and wouldn't want them in this hanging basket as they tend to produce so many long leaves after they finish flowering .
I must go through my seeds and see if there might be anything else I can sow now for a Spring display .

Looks a bit sparse right now , but it is giving me something to look forward to in the Spring .

🌿Winter Kitchen Windowsill Hanging Basket πŸͺ»πŸŒ·πŸ’

My kitchen windowsill hanging basket , stuffed full of an assortment of succulents did really well through this fiercely hot Summer and drought .

There are one or two Begonias in there ....and they are only just getting going now....but too late !  Time to get these plants out and under cover . The basket liner has almost completly disintegrated too .

The metal basket itself could do with a coat of metal paint .....but Ricardo says he can't spare his only paint brush .....meany 😟 .....so I'm hoping the basket can get through another year ....I need to get this basket planted up now .

Away we go to the greenhouse !

Now enjoying the early Autumn warmth of the greenhouse .

Bring in the Autumn plants .....and new liner .

I had kept two of these liners in a box in the shed and was worried in case any little creatures might have moved in 🐭....I very tentatively tipped the box open and shook out the folded liners .....

                    Phew ......  it's all good !

So here we are ! πŸ˜ƒ A typical English 1970's style hanging basket arrangement of wallflowers , silver leaved plant and pansies  ......small bulbs to be poked in as and when I find some at a reasonable price πŸ˜‰
