Brassicas 🌱🌱🌱🌱 update

Up and out at 4.30 am to watch the sun rise .

It's forecast to be sunshine all day , so I wanted to get the vegetable garden watered early .

In the shed I have been shifting everything around to make space on the bench for the big batch of mixed brassica seedlings that I'll be pricking out and potting up later on .

(You have to click twice ! )

All my seeds are germinating now except the Beetroot ...hmmm .... 🤔The last wave of Beetroots are outside in the ground and doing really well . This second lot are from the same seed packet so they should be alright .

It's only been four days since I sowed them , so I'm sure they'll be up soon .

I might prick some of them out later on ....see how I feel ....maybe I'll do this tomorrow .

Pots all ready to go !

Some nice Romaine lettuce leaves ready to pick . The other mixed lettuces in the background have been slow due to the heatwave last week .

I think we have a couple more tubs of new potatoes . These have done really well this year . Delicious !

I have really got to work hard to keep everything well watered . We are forecast another longer spell of hot weather and it is going to be hot today .

My water barrels are empty !  Got to take the hose up there to fill the watering cans .

After I've done some laundry and got it out on the line and lunch prepared ......

......I'm going to sit in the shade and do some patchwork today .

                               See you later alligator !

                                            Peace and Love 🕊️

Lettuce 🌱🌱- no more procrastinating ! 🌱

The beautiful cloud that greeted me as I opened the kitchen door .

I hung out the washing ( in America you say - laundry ) nice and early , as the forecast is for possible thundery showers this afternoon and tonight .

The garden needs the rain .

Then up to the shed to finally get the lettuce seedlings potted up . A beautiful sunrise this morning .

I did a bit of tidying and made some space ......

.................. and finally got some of them potted up .  I will bring these on  and the others will be held back a little in their growth , and I will pot those up maybe next week . I will also sow another lot , so we can have a nice succession going on .

I get nice clean leaves for our salads doing it this way and they are growing up on the bench at my level .  I take a couple of leaves from each plant and keep them growing .

I have Coriander growing outside in the veg trug . I will sow some more as it is really nice mixed in with salad leaves .  I like to mix in spearmint leaves too mmmm .

Anyway , I still have a lot of tidying to do in the shed .

Time for brekkers !    ( and then I'll do another Epie update ! )

                                           ☀️🌤️.........⛈️
