The sun came out and I just couldn't resist pulling on my wellies and getting stuck in again .
I can see a nice little Agave off shoot in there ! π
I gave this a raking over . The bean frame is still up from last year , after I hurt my back I had no choice but to leave the frames up . I planted this bed up with Lavender , to attract the bees to my beans and with a view to making Lavender bags . They were just little plug plants , they have some way to grow before I'll have enough flowers to gather .
I am planning to grow a lot more French beans , they were so good ! I am planning to fill this bed with Leeks .
I am growing my favourite Leek varieties Bleu de solaise and Jaune du Poitou .
They are up already ! We'll be eating those , this time next year !
Look at this lovely sunshine !
My beautiful Rhubarb is pushing up . I have two clumps , one which I cover and the other one I leave to regain it's strength from having harvested from it last year .

Lots of lovely things to enjoy - and in the sunshine too! Have you tried leek risotto? Nigel Slater's recipe is a good one and it's delicious!

ReplyDeleteMy leeks are still small, I will leave them a bit longer, I always add loads of fallen leaves around my rhubarb, it's an early Timperley, there is new growth showing through.
ReplyDeleteOur leeks have been really thin this year but we need to lift and freeze those still in the ground
