Amorphophallus atroviridis

Up early to water the vegetable garden . It's going to be another hot day .

No hose pipe ban here yet , but I am being careful not to waste water , only watering the vegetable garden and Tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers in the greenhouse and lettuces and brassica seedlings in the shed .

Got soaked this morning as the connection to the hose pipe burst !

Exciting news ! ( for those who like weird plants )

Back in January I acquired a very rare bulb .  πŸ€—

Amorphophallus atroviridis  .....I knew he could be a tricky one to grow but thought I'd take a chance .

                                                         Weird !

                                    I'm in love !   πŸ˜

So I got him potted up , put him on the landing windowsill at the top of the stairs ...
I planted him with what I thought was the top , just the very tippy top , showing above the compost .
At this time we had the central heating on , so the cottage was fairly warm .

Weeks went by and nothing was happening . Weeks then months .

Fearing it may have rotted away , last week , I decided to take him out of the pot to check .

He was still in there .  πŸ€”

It looked no different to when it first arrived !

So I thought I'd re-pot him in some different fresh compost and put him in the shed .  It gets very very warm in there with the morning sun , then not such strong sunlight as the sun moves around to the back later on .

🌿🌿 He's in there amongst all the happy vibes of all the other plants . 🌿🌿

It's actually a great place to start my seeds and strike cuttings .

So the good news , is that I think I can see a shoot coming ! πŸ˜€πŸŒΏπŸŒ

I have slug pelleted all around it and put in two sticky fly traps to protect it .🐜🦟πŸͺ²πŸ›

                              There's a new shoot coming !!

Now I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will soon put up some  beautiful bluey/green leaves which are said to be streaked with pink .
I might increase the watering slightly .

Anyone out there growing this ?  Send me your ideas on this please !!

Meanwhile .....

....the Lettuces are doing great !

                                     Love and Peace πŸ’›πŸ•Š️🌿

                                                🌿☀️🌿
