🌿Happy Christmas 🕊️🌿

 

                           Wishing you all a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas .

No frost but it is bitterly cold today . a biting cold wind !  A very chilly walk across the cliff fields this morning.

The Nativity scene in St Mellanus Church is beautiful this year , the Advent Wreath and flower arrangements . I forgot to take a picture of it ...maybe tomorrow .

Nothing going on in the garden .

The Aeonium in the porch is very slowly beginning to open it's pretty starry flowers .

 Oh ! the log baskets are empty !

I had to wrap up and go out and gather more kindling and logs for the fire and now that I have lit the fire I doubt if we'll go for our usual afternoon walk . 

It's dark now already anyway !

 

Gonna sit beside the fire and do some embroidery .

Keeping it tidy 🌿

Not a lot happening really. 

We had one dry morning ...so ...

Trying to keep it fairly tidy . He cut the grass and I went around all the vegetable beds with the edging sheers .

Thistles !

 One good thing about the rain ...it makes weeding easier !

I'm not sure of how much I will be able to do next vegetable growing season . My back is healing but ever so slowly . 

Normally I would have taken down the bean poles , but I couldn't even manage that at the moment .

So I've left them up . I must have done a pretty good job of the bean frame as even Storm Bram didn't rock it !

But ,

This bed had a fine crop of Thistles .

                                             Ugh !

     There was no way that I could just leave them to get their roots down .

I hung up my walking stick .....

........ and with the help of these two tools ...........

 .....and with the earth being so soft due to the torrential rain we've had over the last couple of days ...

....... without crouching , kneeling or bending over ....... all things considered ....

                      ......not a bad job done .... proper job ! (as we say in Cornwall )

Leeks and Onions doing o.k. 

 I just can't bend down to pull them !

Meanwhile on the landing windowsill , my Schlumbergera cuttings are flowering for the first time !

These were two segment cuttings that I bought on Ebay .  Very pretty ! 

  However ...

            ....in case you were wondering ...

...we are still waiting and watching for this to open it's buds .

Full Moon 🌕

 

                       Full  Moon.......and got some Christmas fairy lights up . 

                                   Rain ...... lots of it !
