Last month I decided to take up this very old and sad looking cyclamen and re-pot it , but as you can see the corm turned out to be a lot bigger than I had thought it was and it needed a much bigger pot .
This one was broken and waiting to be taken to the tip , but I thought it might do until I could get a nice new one ...and now I was half way through ..I decided to carry on and get the job done as best I could .
I left a good part of the corm above the earth as it was in the previous pot ...I quite like the bright green moss .
I scrounged some horticultural grit from around other plants in the greenhouse . I just can not find horticultural grit at a price that I can afford !
So that would have to do .
I then pretty much forgot all about it ....until today . My husband helped me with my walking frame to get up to the shed to check on everything .
It was a lovely surprise to see it now in full bloom !
Some of the horticultural grit and a little of the compost has washed away revealing some of it's roots , I like the look of it's roots and anyway the Autumn leaves are falling all around them now ππππ It looks happy again .
So now we await the first named storm of the season . Storm Amy .
Not sure when it's going to hit yet . I expect it will be wild and wet here for a time .
Wherever you are please take care and keep yourself safe .
love and hugs Debbie x

It's good to hear you are being able to get about a little. I know from personal experience how healing a garden can be. After 2 knee replacements (not at the same time of course) just to walk up and down the garden path was so restorative.

We have cyclamen going up all over the garden and the plot. I initially planted just on pink and one white. I've also given loads away. For some reason I am always surprised when they flower as I imagine they should flower at a different time.
ReplyDeleteWonderful post and beautiful flowers in your last photo. Warm greetings and best wishes from a retired lady living in Montreal, Canada.
