๐ŸŒง️Hiding away in the Greenhouse ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐ŸŒต๐ŸŒง️

Come in ! Come in and join me in the greenhouse !  ๐Ÿค—

I was up early , doing the laundry , ๐Ÿงบ hanging it all out on the line ๐ŸŒค️and then bringing it all in again as it started to drizzle ๐Ÿงบ. Now it's all on the clothes-horse up in the bathroom . ๐ŸŒง️

I know .....I said I was going to tidy up the Chamaerops humilis .

Anyway , changed my mind .

Today I'm going to repot Barney ๐Ÿถ my Dog Tail Cactus - proper name Selenicereus testudo  ๐Ÿ•‍๐Ÿฆบ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ•

He is now way too big for his pot and really needs a nice new hanging pot .

I found this in B&Q , not tried it before . I usually do my own mix for my cacti , anyway,  I'm giving it a go .

I took him out of his pot and you can see the really good drainage I had given it before . This new compost doesn't appear to have much grit in it . Feels sandy and I can see little orange specks .
Hmmm ...personally , I think it should have more grit .  We'll see how we go . ๐Ÿค”

I am using the empty pot to make the correct size/shape hole for the plant .

  Perfect .

This is also to allow for a good top dressing of horticultural grit .

He is not too spikey ! Carefully place him into the hole .

..... and nestle him in with the last little bit of the compost from the bag . I would have liked a little bit more compost in the bag . This was only enough to pot up one cactus ..I had hoped to have repotted at least two .

Oops ..a little piece fell off !

I'll stick it in there and it should soon put out roots . There you go little pup !  ๐Ÿถ
I am not watering this now for a couple of weeks . It only has the moisture that is already in the new compost . That is enough moisture for now .

So that just leaves me with the top dressing to do . Which will just have to wait as I can't find horticultural grit anywhere at the moment .

Parodia magnifica  ......I think ! ๐ŸŒป Has lovely cheerful yellow flowers .

This is the grit I would like to use .

Echinocereus viereckii ssp. morricalii .
Nice strokable cactus - no spines ๐Ÿ’šVery lovable . Has lovely big flowers ๐ŸŒธ....apparently.....not seen them yet mind !
This comes in as second best top dressing , because I think , it is a tad too heavy .

Sometimes I smash up my own !

My Agave Utahensis looking very handsome with his orange top dressing . ๐Ÿ’š
This is one very vicious and badly behaved monster ! It spikes , bites and rips !๐Ÿ˜ฑ
Now safely at the very back of the greenhouse  .

Selenicereus testudo has gorgeous arial roots and will put out more as he begins to sprawl out in his new hanging pot .
His Dog Tail stems will hang down all around and hopefully one day, he will have the most outrageous white blooms !  ๐Ÿ’ฎ
๐ŸถThat's all from me , Barney and his new pup , in the greenhouse for today .๐Ÿ•‍๐Ÿฆบ

The sun has not come out , so my new fountain is sitting there doing nothing !

I know ! I know ! I really need to get on and tidy up that bramble entangled Chamaerops humilis !

Love and hugs  ๐ŸŒง️๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒง️ Debbie x

                                                       ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฟ
